Bookstores - My New Bar Scene

I love meeting strangers at bookstores. I have had great dates, and romantic relationships, from talking to strangers at the bookstore. A poll located in the "Pick Ups" section of the It's Just Coffee forum suggests that bookstores are the second best place for meeting and connecting with people to date. I will take bookstores over the club scene any day. I have had fun at bars in the past. I dated women from bars. Actually, I have three sets of friends that are happily married and met at a bar. But that is a whole new article. Right now I am over going to bars and clubs, unless it is to meet some friends for a drink. Here are some reasons why I love the bookstore for meeting women:

Drunkards and People on the Whiz

I've yet to hear the phrase: "Do you have any blow?" after striking up a conversation with an attractive woman who is standing in the Travel section of Barnes and Noble. I am not presuming she may not have been gacked up on the whiz recently. But chances are low that she is going to ask me for some while she is standing in the Travel section telling me about how she is planning her trip to Machu Picchu.

Drunken Fighting:

I love the phrase "choose your battles." And, I love overcoming the fear of confrontation when it is worth it. I'll pass on confronting that drunk guy in a bar who is jealous because that girl we both do not know is asking me if I have any blow. I'd rather go to an art opening, or stay home watch the Sopranos with my cat, Marnold.

Spitting/Spraying on People:

Occasionally, when I am trying to hold a conversation in a loud club, I spew out the weather instead of the news. A couple weeks ago a blast of wind shot from my mouth as I was speaking to an attractive woman. I am not sure what consonant I was using, but this cute girl's hair bounced back so abruptly from my blast of mouth wind, that for a second she looked like she stuck her head out of a car that was going fifty five miles per hour. She did appreciate that I called myself out on being a sprayer. She laughed a lot because I bragged about being a sprayer. Suprisingly, she liked that I flaunted my quirks so much that she offered up her phone number ten minutes later. In any case, I like a quieter environment: I do not mist people's faces in the bookstore whenever certain consonants leave my mouth.

It Is Harder to Be a Slob:

Whenever I get home from a night at a bar or club, everyone's second hand cigarette smoke makes my clothes smell like a giant bag of ass. This makes it much more difficult for me to be a slob and wear the same shirts more than two times a week without doing a load of laundry.

Instant Dates

I like instant dates: Having coffee on the spot with someone I just met in the Travel Section ten minutes ago. The timing for instant dates from a bookstore is perfect. It is usually early evening, or a weekend afternoon. After the instant date happens, and I get her phone number, it is extremely rare that she will flake out when I call her to hang out again. But instant dates after a night at the bar consist of late night food, or after hours parties that are loaded with people who are snorting the white devil.
